key switch does not turn off blower and speedometer quit working
When I cut off the truck, the blower motor continues to run. Also, my speedometer, odometer has quit working all on the same day. I did not have any issues last night when I cut the truck off, and this morning is when it started messing up. When I start the truck, sometimes it dings 3 times just like when you cut it off while still rolling. Does not do this at every start up. This is a 2000 350 w/ 7.3 powerstroke. Any help is appreciated....
Get a wire schematic to look at, just to let ya know since its a F350 7.3L There will be numerous wires hidng under that dash. I will look at wiring diagrams soon here n try t find what it might be to help ya.
Question? Are you sure it's the blower that continues to run? The reason I ask is that the accessory delay relay will continue to feed things like the radio and power windows until you open a door. On my 2000 F350, I can hear the cdrom spinning when I shut off, until I open the door, which cancels the accessory delay relay. The blower motor is fed from a 40A fuse through a relay, the motor and then the switch to ground.
The relay coil for the blower motor is powered via a 10A fuse in the central junction box. One other question, do you have 4WABS or RABS (4 wheel abs or only rear wheel abs)? If 4WABS, then the speedo gets its signal from the 4WABS module (left fron of engine compartment, below 2nd battery if you've got one. If RABS, then the signal comes from the GEM (Generic Equipment Module) located by the fuse panel by driver. I don't see any connection between the speedo & blower problem however it is remotley possible that the GEM is sick. This has been known to happen due to water ingress via the door and or dash seals. Also, the most common cause of speedo / ABS problems is the VSS (speed sensor) on the rear differential. I've got better diagrams at home so if need be I can look further for you later. Keep us posted and good luck.
Everything went back to normal after the snow and mud dried up a little. I'm sure it was the blower running, I'm not an idiot. Turn the **** to off and it would quit. I ran this service truck probably 100 miles while it was messing up. The next day, speedometer was back to normal. Day after that, key switch was turning off all accessories as it is supposed to. I'm assuming moisture is the culprit, as with most electronic malfunctions. But where do I need to look? Is there a shroud or guard that I can make around something, or maybe a gasket? Thanks for the input.
Some Ford trucks had windshield gasket problems. There are some gadgets and the fuse box mounted on the cab side of the firewall, and they have had problems with windshield leaks running right down into the modules and fuse box.
