My 78 ford truck is having a problem overheating the coil for some reason If it continues and no can help me fix it Im switching to points

How do you know the coil is "overheating"?

Points suck and can also overheat the coil.

Fix your Duraspark unit. It is very simple. Check the diagrams here:

Follow the instructions in your service manual TO THE LETTER to troubleshoot your truck.

With the truck running, measure the voltage at the coil + and write back in.
