I did a quick google search and came up with this site:

scroll on down the page, and it has some info. Looks like you have to have the wheels turning at around 30 mph to check the voltage.

thanks for that site..i would have never known you have to get the wheels moving to check the voltage that would be kinda hard without a lift but i got it fixed the wires for the VSS where corroded in half about a foot from the VSS...thanks for the help though
