I'm running an AMD Sempron3000 with Windows XP Home Edition. My problem is that my DVD drive has disappeared. Doesn't show up under My Computer but yet when I put a CD into it, it spins and the read light comes on. When I go into the Device manager it tells me that it working properly. The DVD drive just isn't showing up and i really need to access it. Anybody got any ideas?
Maybe your computer has lost its configuration settings for the DVD. You may need to use "system diagnostics" or even a system restore,,,,Use the troubleshooter instructions and check the default settings for the DVD. If the DVD is an add on run the software for it and see what happins first
Well that's weird. As a temporary workaround you could create a shortcut to D: and place it on your desktop. At least then you wouldn't have to go through the Start - Run thing every time.
I'd say start with a virus scan. It could be something goofy with Microsoft's wonderful operating system, but try the obvious first.
