Well i reinstalled my girl's computer for her after a massive spyware attack on it. I used the system restore that was already on the computer. Now when she tries to burn a cd it wont burn it. tells us that the CD isn't in the drive. I tracked it down to that its reading the DVD drive as the cd burner but it wont let me change the drives to it reads the right one. i tried download other burnin programs and stuff dont it dont work and i tried installed the drvies for it from the computers web site. It's a Dell Persario 735??? i believe if im wrong ill fix it later. anyone know how to fix this problem
Have you tried going to the control panel/system/device manager/click on the cd drive and remove it...re-boot and reinstall the drive and burner software?
Was the CD writer part of the original computer or did you/she/someone put it in later? If it was added later, the system restore won't have the right software for the writer. Otherwise, most software has a setting to choose recorder, which would normally let you choose either a cd-writer or an image file on the hard drive. Other possibility is that the writer isn't working right.
If you installed Real Player, the Roxio drivers probably nuked the Roxio driver that came with your burner and messed up the registry. About the only solution they offer is to sell you their newest software for $80+ !
at first i was just usin the burnin thing that came with the computer. then i tried some kind of other burnin software i had and it still doesn't work. i tried deletin the drive and installin the software again and now it reads the right drive but the drive doesn't read the cd seems like the drive doesn't even move at all. i tried updatin the driver and stuff
