Hello, I had a problem with my 05 V10 last night, I had about a 1/8 tank of gas left and I looked at gas gauge it was shooting up to full and down to empty about 20 times then it just started going all over the place and the heater control , temp gauge started going dim then brite ,dim then brite. radio was just fine. I didnt have lights on. No rain. I was just driving. Pulled right into gas station and filled up. when I restarted everything was normal again. anyone have any ideas or had this same sort of issue
WOW! Freakin' out electrical stuff! Never had that exact problem but have found when cars/trucks act like they are possessed a restart (reboot?) usually "cures" it. SOunds like that's what happened in your case.
You may have a battery that has a bad cell in it. Very weird stuff happens when voltage goes low. Stuff you cant imagine would be possible sometimes. You may have gotten a crappy battery out of the batch, seeing as its an 05 it really shouldnt have problems yet. If it happens again id look at the battery first, then maybe the alternator/voltage regulator. Just some info in case it happens again and you cant make it here for good advice. If your bored go get the battery load tested for free at one of the parts stores.
thanks for the ideas guys. A battery out here in Phoenix is only good for about 2 or 3 years. due to our dry heat. ha,ha ( 112+ average ) so i will have battery load tested, if something weird happens again. I hope it was like Monsta said needed a reboot. but will keep watching thanks
