Line-X bedliner

Hey Guys,

I have been toying with the idea of getting a spray in liner. The bed itself is in excellent shape just a little surface rust where a canopy once sat. If I get it done I will go with "over the rail". What I would like to know is your experiences with spray in liners. Are they worth it? Certain varieties to avoid/use? Issues?

Thanks for your input
Evs

I have one, but it is not a well known brand and I won it in a raffle. The line-x spray-in liners that I have had experience with are top notch and I would pay to have a line-x over what I have. One of the things I like about a spray in liner over a drop in liner is that you can still use a camper shell or a tonneau cover (if both liners are over-the-rail). I definitely suggest over the rail too. Line-x offers a lifetime warranty against chips, gouges, etc.

yeah, great experience with mine. I dont have line-x....I had it done by a company called Custom Linings, excellent stuff, lifetime warranty too. A couple friends that have line-x say that it's really nice too, only problem is it fades in the sun and has to be conditioned every once in awhile. One guy took off his toolbox in the front and you could tell the difference between night and day with how much it had faded. This was after 3 years too.

Nighthawk,

Thats good to know because in the summer that sun is brutal. My trucks sits out in it most of the time. But the heat didn't crack it or anything? What about drilling into it? When I re-install my toolbox I'll need to drill new holes.

Thanks,
Evs

no the heat didnt crack it, just kinda faded it to a lighter shade of grey. kept the texture and everything.

and drilling into it is no problem, are you meaning that you need to drill completely new holes for the toolbox? or do you have holes already and you'll just have to go back through the spray. If you need completely new holes, drill them before you take it in, that way, the hole will be protected, and if it doesnt let the bolt go through, just take the next smallest bit and drill it out again, letting the bolt through, yet protecting the metal. If you forget (like I did) just mask it off and hit it with some rustoleum....works great too.

My truck had a Rhino when I bought it. it was my first experience with spray in liners, and I can tell you I'll never go without one again. It has faded a bit but it still keeps things in place really well in the bed

Rhino is the best in my opinion. Mine has held up for 12 years now. It is far better than any other I have seen. It is a little faded but I can make it look like new with some tire wet and a water rinse. I wish I would have done it up on top of the bed rails as well. LineX and Rhino are the top 2 in my area, I have seen the LineX lift of like dead skin when the bed gets dented. The Rhino is like 1/4 inch thick and takes a lot more abuse.

I have heard good things about Rhino but they are not in my area. My choices are Line-X or Armorthane. The guy is busy booking into March so I think he does good work because if he didn't he wouldn't be busy.

The reason that these spray-ons peel off at all is because of bad prepping...If the prep is taken care of and done right, it will stay on strong as ever....

The dealer that I got mine done at had a picture of a truck that had gotten t-boned with one of his bedliners. The suv had hit the truck more in the bed, and the inside had dented in about a foot and a half, yet the liner was still on there, you couldnt peel it off or move it at all.
