Yeah there is no point in putting a carb on a 2.9, might as well put it on a 4.0, same amount of work involved. There is WAY to Many differences between the 2.8 and 2.9 to make things even worth while. You would have to have a custom intake and distributor made or run megajolt and a TFI, but with that amount of work, why run a carb.
The 2.8 has crappy flowing heads, but the largest aftermarket of the colonge engines.
4.0 has lots more torque than a 2.9 and will run a 2.9 distributor if needed.
