I'm fine, I just got a little peeved over comments about being a new member because I didn't have much of a post count; Post count doesn't translate into knowledge. I'm intrested to see where this goes as well. I went through a state where I though selectable lockers were the answer to many applications, but after talking to people who have run everything under the sun, all roads point to Detriot. I'm just trying to save people money, installing lockers is damn spendy.

wow what a heated debate I have more experince w/the arb than almost anybody other than the engineers my dad had the very first 44 arb in the states and is still running the same one i have one in my78 brnc and would not trade it for the world soo much nicer than the new detroit(have one in my 77 mud truck). The new detroit is much nicer than old but still squirrly on wet and slick pavment.

To clear this up a little bit this is my daily driver pickup('93 2wd F150). You all might wonder why I would put a locker in a 2wd, but I have my reasons. What I want specifically is something that I can select between an open and locked differential, and I don't really like the idea of an air locker because of the extra stuff that goes with the set up. I've rebuilt rearends before but have no experience with lockers.

The original poster was asking about an electric type activated locker for a 8.8 rear.
I don't see an electric activated locker product by Detroit that fits his needs.

If there is one, please post the model number and price.

So, what about something that's a drop-in installation (no ring/pinion adjustment) like the Powertrax? For my '93, that would be ~$400 shipped, and I could install it myself in a couple hours. I'm a painting contractor, and rarely go off-road, but occasionally end up in a little mud or on a wet, grassy slope and could use a little more than one wheel drive.

As long as you do not run big tires (over 33") and don't do much heavy towing you should be fine. I've seen people running 38" tires on those, but they were very good on the gas. Sounds like the lunchbox shuld fit your application well.

You didn't look hard enough. Here it is right on Eaton's site. http://www.eatonperformance.com/diff...s/Elocker.html

They are $899 + shipping.

Nope, stock 32"s, and I don't tow much at all. I am thinking of putting on 33"s to get a little better mileage off that 4.10 rear, but I don't need tires right now, and that's gonna be ~$600-$800.

You should be totally fine running a lunchbox locker. Lockright makes a darn good one. Look around, you have no need for anything more then a lunchbox.
