I agree in that you should sell the wood to them.

People will take advantage of your generosity. Always have and always will.

I wa in the same position as you when I lived in Georgia. My neighbor always wanted to borrow wood, but never wanted to help when we would go. I let it go the first and second year, but the third I had to finally speak up. I got along with my neighbor as he is a good guy, so I didn't want to burn the bridge. It came time to cut wood on the third year, and I asked if he would be able to help. Of course there was something he had to do, so I kindly made a joke and laughed about how expensive it would be for him to buy his wood that year. I made it as a joke, but because if the way I worded it, he got the drift of what I was getting at. I didn't have any questions that year from him, and the next he volunteered to go with us and help. There was never anything said after that and it actually made for a better friendship. Might work - might not. Some people are jsut hard headed and don't get the point sometimes, so it might come down to you having to jsut be blunt with him about it.
