Have you considered an alarm system with remote start. I have a viper system with the remote start and it is loaded with features and the range is amazing. I had it installed at Best Buy for $400. It also includes and keychain with a little screen that lets me know that it is running etc

There are alot of remote start only systems on the market you can pick them up for as little as $49. I remember seeing a system at autozone for $79 that had different features like a timer etc. Most will start your car from 500 ft. or more and you can program run times and some preset times to start and run. I dont have any feedback for you on a specific standalone starter as I have never owned one. I'm sure someone will post and help ya out. check out this http://www.12voltshop.com/product.aspx?prodid=CS423&categoryid=12&parentcati d=0 and here is a write up on installation https://www.ford-trucks.com/article/...e_Starter.html

I use an excaliber alarm with remote start, woks great. You should consider an alarm sd's are very easy to break into, and it will cost about $ 500 for new handle and repair to the door.

I have an XL too. Most places (Car Toys, Circuit City, Best Buy, etc.) will install power door locks for $100 per door or you can get a kit here that isn't too expensive:

I have a crew cab so I've been thinking about installing the power locks on all the doors myself and then having a security/keyless entry/remote start system installed. I looked this weekend at several places and for $350-$400 you can get a security/keyless entry/remote start system installed that has the new type transmitter like shockwave6 is referring too. I was looking at a Hornet 564T system. I found the installation manual on-line and after reading it I decided it would be better to have a pro install the system, especially one that includes both security and remote start.

A1 Electric also has power window kits for Ford trucks for about $260 for two windows and I'm thinking about that for the front windows too.

I am with shockwave6. I had the Viper 5900 installed. Comes with built in remote start and SST remote capability. So far it's been a very good and reliable system. The remote is very handy in that there is an LCD display and allows you to see the status of your alarm/vehicle and has a page feature that lets you know if the alarm is triggered. Comes with all of the sensors and a hood lock with a one mile range. Local alarm place installed.
