I recently bought an 88 F150, 302 with an automatic transmission. I've noticed upon deceleration sometimes, like when i take my foot off the gas, there is a clunk or slight "jump" that feel like it's coming from the transmission. Supposedly the tranny was rebuilt fairly recently along with the motor...
Any ideas what it might be or where to look? Also, how bad a problem is this? I mainly use this truck for yard work and hauling my dirtbike around.
or the ring and pinion,it sounds like the tronny is slowing faster than the rear end, that would make a nice loud clunk,my 88 f150 300-6 mt5od made me kringe when i let off the gas
how can you check the u-joints in park? there will be tension on the drive shaft then. i always blocked the wheels and left in neutral to check u-joints.
Sounds like either the anti-clunk spring was left out on the rebuild or the TV adjustment at the throttle valve is out of adjustment.
More than likely the TV adjustment if every thing else is tight.
