i have a 05 superduty and it has died without being able to start it back up the truck has 222457 miles with no problems as of yet i bought the hpop fitting and bracket but havent put it on yet, a friend told me that the ipr valve is basically a solenoid and that if 12 volts is applied it would close the valve am wanting to find out for sure before burning it but really it needs to be replaced because the screen is broken and gone if anyone know i would appreciate it thank you
You can apply voltage to the IPR valve.
Yes, it should be replaced, and unless you broke the screen on removal, the high pressure pump may have had metal run through it and needs replacement.
High miles for an 05.
i repo vehichles with it , it has a dynamic wheel lift so it is going quite often as i work for alot of the major finance companies, but as for applying voltage should the valve close or?
The IRP is controlled by duty cycle. If you want to test it by applying voltage, you first have to apply air pressure to the high pressure oil system, then apply 12v to the IPR. If it is working, you should hear a flow of air from the back of the high pressure pump with no voltage applied, and the air flow should stop with voltage applied. Making sure there are no leaks in the system of course. If you have a hole in the screen, I would change the HPOP, IPR and install the STC repair kit all at once.
got the truck going again and yes the mileage is correct well with about another 600 miles added to it, and it was the ipr valve ford gets 316.00 and through international it was 98.00 so go figure who is making the money
