Lost Key with code
Lost Key with code
I lost my key to my 2001 F150 and I was told by Ford roadside service and the Local dealer here where I purchase the truck new they say the did not keep records that long and the truck is not regester in their data bank.I need a have a code to dup a key (Code)to send the information to the ford dealer ,I am about eight hours away I have all the owner Information and reg, driver lic.All I need a person to inform me where I can get a key code
I’ve never heard of such a thing. If I understand you right, you’ve lost a key and would like to get another copy. Any dealer or locksmith should be able to do this for you, if you have 2 keys all you need to do is have one made and you can program it yourself, but if you’ve only got one you need someone to program the computer with a scan tool. There may be a key code that identifies the cut and frequency of the key so they can just mail you one, but that’s not something that’s going to be written on the key or truck to my knowledge.

A 2001 has a transponder key and the code is for the cuts on the key so a code wont help much. Call a locksmith to come and program a new key for you. The lost key will be deleted from the computer so it will nolonger start the truck but if you find it can be re-added.

$390-$700 is a ridicules price; you should expect to pay $65-$75. You will have to call the dealer and get more information on what they are looking for. It should be as simple as going to the dealer/locksmith and having them cut one for you, no fancy codes or passwords involved. If you only have 1 key it’ll cost a little more because they have to use a special tool.

The ford dealer say they can not get an code by using the truck VIN# and has no way to get one ,I was told after five years Dealer saleperson)there is no record I spoke with an other person at a private company they told me they could get one for me through the Vin Data bank. The problem here is my truck was stolen and when recover there was no key I do not have a spare.and it is 1.073 miles from me the truck.
Just talked to a ford dealer (parts) and they can make a key. They need the vin. # proof of ownership and they can do it. The cut off on key codes is 1996, anything after that they don't have the code. I think you have to talk to a different dealer. They need the vehicle to do it.
