Why do you drive a Ford?

Before to buy my F150, I've tried dodge, gmc and chevrolet each one during some hours...and the winner is FORD F150.
More comfortable...and more sexy !!! And I've customised that monster...see my gallery to check it.

Always FORD Truck !

Why do you drive a Ford?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Apr-02 AT 12:55 PM (EST)]I only drive Ford Trucks....they make the best for what i need.

however Ford has never made a sports car (for the general public) and so i go to Chevy for driving excitement....

sorry if that offends anyone....

Why do you drive a Ford?

All my life my family has had fords. I learned to drive in a 72'gran torino w/351c and dual exaust and a 69' f-100 360 and 3 on the tree and your power everything. I have owned a few cars and truck in my 32 years and I would have to say that I have had good and bad of every brand, american made only, that is just how I feel. I have a 2000 dodge durango now that had transmission trouble at only 10,000 miles, luckily it is a lease and they will get it back. I have an 86 f-150 that has had only minor repairs since my grandfather bought it in 89. My next purchase will probobly be a explorer or expedition in late 2003. I just like fords the best. I would love to buy an old 67 to 72 f-100 or 250 and get it back into shape and maybe when I get a garage I will. I can honestly say that if I have my choice all my future trucks atleast will be the blue oval.

First of all, Chevies are like bellybuttons-everyone has one. They are cheap to repair, cheap to maintain, and cheap to modify, mainly because all the hot rod parts manufacturers put all their R&D into Chevy. Fords, on the other hand, take skill and finesse to modify and get right. Anyone can build a Chevy, but it takes a special person to build a Ford and have it turn out right.
Second, no other truck on the market is as solid as a Ford. Fords ride a little harsher than Chevies, but that is because they are trucks, not truck-bodied passenger haulers. They are tough and can take abuse. I am not sure about the F150 though. I never owned a light-duty truck. I actually considered buying a Dodge this time, but they don't offer a crew cab, plus all real trucks are diesel, and that Cummins is VERY LOUD.
Third and final reason, Ford has never left me out in the cold. Always dependable, always tough. I will be all Ford until Ford stops being the best.

Why do you drive a Ford?

My dad was a Ford man. My first car was a Ford. I have always had a Ford, although I have had a few chevys too and the wife's current car is a dodge caravan. I have always liked the look of the classic Ford truck so that's why my first truck is a Ford. 1975 F350 which is also the newest Ford I have owned. I only had it a month now and I'm a happy camper (special) :P And since I have always had a Ford I know Fords best. And I, like I'm sure most if not all here do some or all of their own work on their vehicles, I stick with what I know. Which ain't a whole heck of a lot anyway.

Why do you drive a Ford?

I still drive Fords cause I've never forgotten the very first car I fell for at the early age of 9. The teenager 2 doors away had a just perfect 1949 Ford Deluxe Convertable. It was black with blk/white tuck & roll interior and a white top. Lowered just a little in the front and those cool little Ford hub caps and beauty rings. He had 2 carbs and Offenhauser finned aluminum heads on the motor and the hood had 4 rows of those bitchin louvers. Then my brother an I shared our first car as a project at age 13 & 14. It was a 1931 Ford Deluxe Coupe (5 window) with cowl lights, rolldown rear window and Kelsey 16" wire wheels. We did a ground up restoration and learned a great deal about cars. I've since owned a 56 F100, 66 F100, 71 Mustang, 86 Aerostar, 88 F150, 92 Aerostar, 99 Explorer, 01 Expedition, and I'm waiting for my 02 F250. I did have 2 GM cars in the mix and both were pieces of junk. A 64 Corvair convertable (motor kept falling in the street). It came with my first wife, and an 83 Olds Cutlass (trans went out twice in 60,000) that came with my 2nd wife. Whats up with these girls??
Needless to say my boys all own Fords, and Henry Ford will always be one of my heros. .

Why do you drive a Ford?

I like the super duty fords the best, I had a 88 460 4x4 5 speed, and it was a great truck, but had been abused so it only quite about 3 times a week, I have a chevy now that me and my little bro built and it has been great, I have to say that I like all three:-X23 , I think in new vehicles that ford is far the best, but the 87 to 91 body quality like alittle to be desired , stupid doors were terrible. All three have there problems, if I had to choose a old truck I would pick the chevy I have, but if it was new it would be a ford v10 for sure. Hope all is well, Mason

Why do you drive a Ford?

I have had Chebbies, Dodges, a Studebaker and lots of Fords. The Fords always held up better and I put more total miles on them than the others. It is too bad they quit making that 4.9 because that is one tough engine. You cannot beat a gear driven camshaft and seven main bearings! It may not be a racing engine but it is a good workhorse!

Why do you drive a Ford?

why you ask... because the cruise control button is on the steering wheel where it belongs and not on the turn signal lever (that's for turnin, what the heck were they thinking of at chevrolet anyway?)

Why do you drive a Ford?

My first experience with Ford was my dad's '90 Ford Mustang, great experience, 5.0L 8 cylinder engine, that baby could haul! the best car for a teenager, i remember learning how to drive at 12 yrs old and pushing the needle off the gauge as i flew across the dry lake beds in california. In october of '97, my first year away at college, i got a phone call from my dad, my sister had totaled the mustang, my baby. that was my car promised to me by my dad. my dad made a stupid mistake, he let my 15 yr old sister borrow the car and drive it to school, she didnt even make it out on to the main drag. she had no regard whatsoever for the mustang's power, and thinking she had lots of muscle, she gunned it and pulled out in front of 3 oncoming cars. all 3 hit her. she was fine, but the car was beyond repair. insurance totaled it out and my dad took the cash and bought a 1983 Chevy Custom Deluxe. he did not want any more muscle cars at the house until my sister moved out! when i finally got enough money together to buy my 1st car, i thought about sinking it all into a muscle car, to replace the one i'd lost, but i fell in love with a '96 ranger with big ole mud tires. unfortunately, the ranger's suspension was going, and i really couldnt afford to sink a bunch of cash into repairing it, as i still was in college. did not think to far ahead at the time, whoever did the lift for the larger tires didnt do so hot a job, i thought at the time i could do a "do-over" until i found out how much it would really cost. so i traded her for my tonka truck. my toy, Ford Explorer XLT, with this bad boy, i can take all 3 of my big ole dogs for rides, and they've got their own backseat. i never felt good about letting them ride in the bed of the ranger. always afraid they'd get hurt.
none of my trucks have died on me, my dad has the chevy and also a 2002 dodge dakota, the dodge has needed lots of work since he bought it, not to mention the engine has quit on him twice, he gets a lot of use out of his AAA membership! ;-) my explorer has needed nothing but a rear brake job (wear and tear) and a paint job (an accident, the previous owner got battery acid on the hood). This truck just hit 88,000 miles with the original transmission and engine, i'll give it at least 100,000 before i'll need to do any major work on it. right now i'll just focus on the accessories.

Why do you drive a Ford?

i got a better one, my roommate has a honda, talk about a #####ed up dashboard and steering column. the lights are on the turn signal lever on the left, there's another lever on the right for the wipers. and the gearshift is on the floor. i cant tell u how many times i've driven that thing and tried to switch gears using the wiper lever and searching all over holy hell for the lights.
and they have a stupid lever on the floor that u have to pull to release the gas cap, she's had mechanics who pull that thinking its the hood release! (i've done it too. never seen a car with a lever to open the gas cap before is it really so hard to flip it open manually?)
fortunately it doesnt have cruise control, i wonder where they would stick that? crazy cars.

I think enduringexplorer hit the nail on the head for me too. ANY clown can build a chebbie !!!!!!!!!
And besides If it's like a rock it don't move to far to fast.

It's Alway's Been Ford!
And besides my dads 70 Marauder is in my garage now, if he hadn't bought in the early 70's I wouldn't have such a unique vehicle. I could be stuck with a chevell or some other gm junk.
