1992 Ford F-150 Super Cab XLT 5.8L/E4OD 4x4 - 220,000 miles
Water pump went out Saturday, so I got her tore down Sunday. I went ahead and ordered a Summit Double-Row "True Roller" Timing Chain Kit, (I'm going to be going through the motor in 2-3 years anyway).
I haven't pulled the balancer or timing cover yet, but that comes tomorrow.
I've only put timing chains on Chebbies in the past; this is the first Ford for me to put a chain on.
I know the basics of timing, etc... I was just wondering if there were any tips to aid me since I'm a first-Ford chainer?
The timing chain that was on the truck would have probably jumped within the next 5k miles. It had over 1.5" of slack in it. I took pictures and plan on posting them soon. I've never seen a timing chain in that bad of shape...
I stopped tonight with getting the timing cover back on. All has been smooth so far. As long as I can get it all back together and start it with no leaks whatsoever, I'll be fine.
