I Have a 292 motor and was wondering if by chance it had the same bell housing as an fe block? I read somewhere that it was replaced by the 292 and was wondering if there were any similarities between the two. We have a 360 that is no longer, and were wondering if the 292 we have will fit in it's place with minimal modification.
Thanks
Dustin

Nope, two entirely different engines sharing no internal/external parts.
i think the easy change you have been told about is with the 361 ft & 391ft share the same truck type bellhousing,s big truck i mean f600 and up im just swaping a 292 y to a 361 ft in my f700 1963

A 292 Y Block bell housing will not interchange with a FE 352/390/428 bell housing or the FT 330/361/391 bell housing...at least not part number wise.
None of the parts numbers are the same between the Y block, FE or FT engines.
The FT engine is an upscale FE engine.

The last Y block 292 used in pickups was 1964. In 1965, the FE engines became available as an option on F100/350's. About the only parts that exchange between the Y block and the FE's are the points, condenser and rotor. The two engines are as different as night and day.
ok, you learn sumthink new ever day has im doing that change very soon lucky i have the both bellhousing s . i have a three one =number C5DA-6394-A y block i think car ? thank you now i have a mount probl

I haven't a car parts book handy, but I do know this:
C5DA = 1965 Falcon
C= Decade = 1960's
5 = Year = 1965
D = Falcon (if it fits a Falcon, it should fit a 65/66 Mustang or a '65 Comet)
A = Engineering/Casting Number
Can't tell from your number if it's for a 6 or V8. The 6's were either a 170 or a 200. The V8's were either a 260 or 289.

well you just got to love the numbers they always add up , now im thinking that the bellhousing mount,s won,t line up where the y bellhousing were ?
would i be able to get you to check a intake manifold for me ? number= D5TE-9425-TA and that you for your help on still

Can't help on the intake manifold, no refs. But with the D5TE (1975) prefix, if it's a 4V manifold, it's a 390. If it's a 2V, it could be either a 330 M/D or a 360.
The FE 360/390 intakes will not interchange with the FT 330's.
