How many V12s are there to choose from? Will they bolt up to a 4R100? Will the PCM talk with the rest of the truck? Will they hold up with consistently high engine load?
I would like to think that anybody upgrading an Excursion with a V12 engine would also upgrade the transmission at the same time. I'm sure the computer(s) and electronics could be worked out.
And I think it's pretty safe to assume that there is an Excursion somewhere in the USA with a V12 engine. The person may not be a member here in these forums. The person may not have ever advertised it for sale in eBaY or AutoTrader, but I think it's out there somewhere. When we do discover this Excursion, it was probably a 6.0L diesel when born, and not replaced with a 6.0L when the diesel went south. Just guessing though.
I guarantee you I could install a V12 w/ transmission and the needed ECU to work in an Excursion. A 1GZ-FE is a 5.0 L (4996 cc) V12 48-valve DOHC from Toyota would be an excellent candidate since it uses 2 stand a lone ECU's, 1 for each cylinder. Add a mechanical transmission like a 48RH from a Cummins Dodge (they make adaptors for practically any application for that transmission) or a controller from Powertrain solutions and it would be doable. That engine fits in a Supra so it will fit in an X.
There is an AMG 65 V12 Twin Turbo for sale in Socal. $8995 for everything. Add a Nag1 transmission (Used in SRT8 Challengers/Chargers- only trans in MB line up that can handle the torque until their new 7 speed came out in 2013) with blue tops and convertor for another 5G and you would be looking at 612hp and 737tq - stock.
You can use the transfer case out of the G-series if you want to keep it 4wd.
Besides the cool factor though, I can't see why it would be worth it. I can make twice that HP and Torque with a Ford V10 for less than the conversion.
Until proven not true, I would have no problem believing that an Excursion possibly has a V-12. Especially if the kid comes from a RICH household.
Shame on all of you closed mind people who shout out SCAM so quickly.

Well, the only problem is, all the posts to which you refer were made as a commentary on the user who brought this thread back from the dead, not the OP. And that person, bigrocko9005 stated for a fact that Ford made Excursions with a V12.

So we've been having a running commentary not on the OP's post regarding a person who claims to have an Excursion with a V12, but rather on the knucklehead who's trying to pass bad information on the forum regarding whether or not Ford ever put a V12 in the Ex.

Stewart
That is exactly right. I have no doubt there might be a V12 Excursion somewhere in the world, but not a Ford Factory Excursion like the bigrocko9005 stated. That would be like me saying there is a factory 1969 Boss Mustang with a twin turbo 5.8 aluminum V8. Didnt happen from the factory.
Recently a buddy of mine declared that the Dodge Pickup trucks had a V16 engine as opposed to our excursions V10's and how sad all of us with our V10's are. He used the logic of so many in this thread who said "just count the spark plugs" lololololol.
