squeaky belt

squeaky belt

my truck in my sig is squeaking and it is pissing me off its coming from were it goes from the water pump pulley to the crank the belt is less than a year old its not ps its not a tensioner or idler or alt i have no idea ? when i push the belt with a wench in between the power steering and water pump toward the engine it goes away? i made sure that the power steering pulley was on all the way so i am stumped. any ideas

i had a similar problem. i squirted some silicone spray on the belt and it stopped all my squeaks. its the pb blaster brand. i got it at home depot for like 3 bucks a can.

get a good year gator back belt.

Dont spray anything on the belt.

i dont have money for a belt has any one else had this and fixed it another way?

I have heard of people putting crayon on squeaky belt.

Check for contaminants on the pulleys, misalignment, contamination on the belt or a wobbling/bent pulley.

i was in the same boat. i know it may be frowned upon, but the silicone worked out for me. if you want you can try cleaning all the pulleys with brake cleaner and a wire brush.

Man those Gatorbacks are awesome. I ordered one from amazon for 20 bucks and it stopped making that god forsaken noise. But I guess you have to have money to spend it. belt conditioners never seemed to work for me.
