Pretty much any 73-79 F-series pickup. You might even be able to swap a 67-72 F-series pickup body. Take lots of measurements before you buy something you arent sure of.
the 76 body is a direct replacement. I have a 76 f-100, about 10 years ago i put a 78 cab and front clip on it. But i afraid that i Can not answer about the bed.
To answer your question, any F100-F350 body, bed, hood, and fenders will swap with your 78. Obviously though you can't place a short bed box on a long bed frame and vise versa but you get the idea.
You can swap any cab/bed from 73-79, with the exception of the Highboys as they carry a different rear frame width. The cabs will all bolt up the same, but you will have to modify the bed if you swap highboy/non-highboy. Just swapped a 75 body onto my 78 chasis. No problems except for the rusty old bolts and cab mount bushings...
i took a 73 std cab long bed and replaced the std cab with a super cab. it can be done but with lots of modifications. then replaced the 73 front end with a 96 conversion kit.
a small company in san diego called perrys fab and fiber. they sell the hood and fenders. then you get a core support lights and grill off of a 92-96 f150. it makes a one of a kind truck.

The beds will bolt on you just cant use all the bolt holes right? I know I have seen guys do that around here.
My 79 f250 ( I know it's not a highboy) has a 78 f150 cab so I know you can switch cabs at least.
well...... the bed was totaly scrapped, and all i used was the sheet metal bed skins. i cut the front off of the existing bed and sectioned a part out of the bedside. so i turned them into short bed sides. for one lightining the truck and allowing for the roll cage.
