Rotella has an API service rating for gas engines. On the Rotella I've got now, API ratings are CI-4 for diesels and SL for gas engines. The diesel oil will do fine in your engine, at least I'm banking on it in mine.
Sorry for my confusion at first but i didnt know that this problem existed. For the longest time we have always used havoline 10w 30 i never thought to look at a SL or SM rating of my oil. This is interesting and once again FTE may have saved my A## again.
Results are in the oil guy site VOA forum, but if you send me an email (not PM) via my public profile, I will email you back the three lab sheets (2 CD2 and Synpower) in pdf format.
Many oil companies have product data information on their websites than includes zinc phos and other parameters. If not call their tech folks.
I have been using Delo 400 in my gassers for more than a decade now. It does carry API "S" ratings for gasoline engines along with the "C" diesel ratings. It just does not carry the ISLAC GF ratings for energy savings. The problem is finding it in the right viscosity. Here, only 15W-40, straignt 30 and 40 are distributed. Shell Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40 is available at Wally's.
That's the same problem I have, Jim. 10W-30 is very difficult to find in Rotella or Delo locally. I found one local parts chain (O'Reilly) that carries Rotella in 10W-30. We do have an Atwoods store that carries Mystik JT-8 in 10W-30. I may need to use that if the local supply of Rotella dries up.
I found the valvoline VR1 racing motor oil at .130 ZDDP, and the Sny power oil aditive with ZDDP in it. Has any one used these oils?
And can i add the SYN power additive to any motor oil for proper protection?

Valvoline Racing is what I used before I discovered Delo 400. Valvoline used to specifically mention the extra ZDDP in marketing literature. That product today, at least locally, is only available in very high viscosities, mainly for the Harley Davidson crowd, 20W50, straight 50, 60 and 70.
OK What about the sny power oil additive with .270 ZDDp, its only 15oz if i remember right. Is that enough to treat a whole oil change with enough ZDDP to provide proper protection?
Here a list of oils and zinc and phosphorus content http://www.lnengineering.com/Oilresults.pdf
Our flat tappet engine need an engine oil with something above 1000 ppm of Zinc and 1200 ppm Phosphorus or more.
