Its 5.5 and 6.5 foot beds available on the crew and super cab. You can get a 5.5 box on a supercab, but they usually put a 6.5 box.
Since 06, you can get a 6.5 box on a 150 crew.
regardless........Mike, the originator of this thread, methinks will be looking at either a different truck or unloading his fifth wheel for a regular trailer if he wants to keep the present truck.
I went through this a bit a while ago.....new to the fifth wheel world etc. The supercrew was not acceptable.....ended up with the super cab in lieu of buying a bigger model under my circumstances. IF I find that I will accually use the fifth wheel, I will trade in my 06 extended cab for a F250 whatever in the future.
My pin weight is 950lbs for a 27' fifth wheel and the truck seems to handle it ok driving 55-60. I get 10mpg pulling.
To each his own I guess....but if the hitch manu. is saying "no" then that should throw a red flag up. I'm sure you could do it with no problems....but you would have to be VERY VERY carefull. I've been in a lot of campgrounds that have very tight spaces that I wouldn't even want to attempt backing a camper "SAFELY" with that setup (esp. in the dark)....even though it's possible.
