I have a 2004 6.0 and the dealer about every 20 to 30,000 miles has to clean out the EVT charger due to the carbon from the egr system is there a way to block off the egr so it dosent do that to the charger any more Scott
Scott,
Welcome to the forum. I see you're from Arnold. I'm in Osage Beach. Have you joined us in the Missouri Chapter yet? I haven't seen your name there.
As for your question, Yes. There are several ways to do it. If you just want to keep the flow out of the EGR, start with the engine off and unplug the EGR valve.
If you want to totaly block it of and keep it looking stock, you can unbolt the uppipe and put a block off at that end of the EGR between the uppipe ond the EGR Cooler.
If you want to do it my way, you can get ahold of Liberator Performance at LiberatorPerformance.net and tell them you want an EGR removal kit. It gives you block off plates for the uppipe and on the intake where the EGR cooler attaches as well as a coolant reroute pipe for where the coolant flows through the EGR. This is what I did to my 2006 F-250. Among other fun things.
