Hi, Does anyone know where the compass/temp sensor is located on a 01 f-150?
I think mine is not working as the display started acting up a while ago, and know it doesn't work at all. Is there a way to test the sensor when find it?
Thanks
The sensor is located in front of the radiator top apron.
A short or open will cause the disply to read to either extreme.
If not lit at all the sensor may not be the problem.
If the compass works, the problem should be with the temp display only and may need replacement.
There are test procedures but it gets involved in trying to bring it all to the thread.
Check for voltages, fuse and dash dimming.
The most common problem is the display circuit board. Cracks develop in the copper traces due to thermal cycling, shock, or poor adhesion to the laminate.
They are very difficult or impossible to fix. You probably cannot buy just a new board from Ford, or if you can, it will be expensive. I would suggest getting an overhead console from a boneyard or e-Bay.
Hey guys I have a 02 king ranch, my display only shows a compass but has a select button. Are there features I'm misssing?
If your KR is like mine then you have EATC with the outside air temperature incorporated into the display for the heat and air conditioning controls and only the compass in the overhead console.
