Okay so this is what i know about the 7700 there was a F250 light duty model from 97-to 99 i believe which looked exact same as a F150 except badging 7 lug wheels and heavier duty suspension so the F150 7700 is similar it has replaced the light duty model actually the super duty trucks replaced the light duty model so its got 7 lug wheels and heavier duty suspension and what not but its got F150 badges good for a work truck i hope this helps and if im wrong im sure someone will clarify....
Dustin, you got it right. All it is really is a heaver duty F-150. My neighbor bought one and loves it. He uses it to pull lawn mowers around with. It does infact have a 7 lug wheel on it. he says it does a wonderful job.
Where's Kerry? I'll stand in until he gets here. You guys are right about the F250 being rebadged and all that. This was the F250 before the Super Dutys came along. In '99 there was the F250 regular duty, and also the F250 SD. As you can imagine, this became quite confusious, ie, ordering parts/accessories...
So, in '00 they renamed the regular duty 250, and it became the F150 7700. 7700 is the gvwr. Some of the differences are - Heavy duty wheels, heavier front and rear springs, (it's rated for plowing) heavier frame walls and construction. Bigger front brakes, a 10.25" rear diff. It came standard with a 5.4 and 4r100* tranny (*after '00)
a bigger tranny cooler and 7 lug axles and hubs for more payload and towing ability. It was only available in the 139" wheel base, so you could have a supercab short box, or a regular cab long box. I don't remember the payload and towing #'s, but I've had 11 railroad cross ties in the back I picked up between a wedding and the reception. ( I might be a red neck) They made it sit level.
