Switching Auto Hubs to Manual
Switching Auto Hubs to Manual
1995 Bronco. I just shredded my front hubs in the snow this weekend. Figured it would happen one day; what should I expect to pay for labor to have manuals installed?? Is this the best way to go? New autos are expensive and hardly durable...anyone had any experience with this?
Switching Auto Hubs to Manual
Switching from autos to manuals is easy. You can get Milemarker hubs for about $50 and Warn premiums for $70-100. All have directions in the box to do the change yourself. It should take less than a 1/2 hour to do the job. Since you had the auto hubs, some of the aftermarket hubs require another part. Just read the directions before getting started....it's a very simple task.
Steve83 has a photo album that shows how it all comes apart. Im sure he'll be around later or I'll try and find it and post again.
Have fun.

I got warn preimums,....excellent hubs and it takes less the 30 min. to install. All you need is a screw driver, bit set and a way to get the hub locking ring off.

Ryan,
Noticed your earlier discussion with Steve83. Not sure i have the time or expertise to do it....Shop charging me $230 for Warn Premiums, conversion kit and labor...seems like a good deal for me and no screwups hopefully!
You didn't have any problems?

First lock the hubs, then you can shift to 4hi and back to 2 hi when in motion.

Shop charging me $230
Holy Crap!! $230 bones for the premiums/conversion/install. Do some shopping b/c that's ridiculous. If you knew how easy it is to do you would say the same thing. I would do some shopping around a little bit before I settled on that price. Order the premiums/conversion on the net and then have them installed. When you take it somewhere and they want to charge you over 1 hour of labor tell them their crazy. Anyone who works on 4x4's for a living should be able to do this job in 30 minutes or less.
Good Luck,
Brian
