howdy, y'all! i hope everyone had a safe and happy holidaze! so i've found myself in a bind as i'm stuck here in pittsburgh and was looking for some info...
i went to start up my '91 full size 5.0L bronco on this cold and rainy day and it cranked strong like it was gonna start, but then it just died...the headlights, dome lights, and horn still work...however, it doesn't crank at all anymore...when i turn the ignition, no clicking, no cranking, nothing! none of the gauges or dash lights respond at all either
i hit the solenoid on the firewall with a screwdriver and it cranked strong (but still didn't start), so it doesn't seem like its the battery...i'm not sure, but the problem seems it may be between the ignition column and the solenoid....anyone have any advice on how to troubleshoot this problem?
thank ya much!
paul

Is the little wire still on the small terminal of the fender relay? Put a test light on the wire to ground & watch the light when you hit the key - if the light doesn't come on, the problem is between the ignition swich & that terminal. If the light DOES come on, change your starter relay - they're known to go out commonly. Just make sure you get the one where ALL the terminals point straight into the engine bay, even if your current one has the BIG terminals pointing front & back.
