Final Decision --460

Okay, I have made up my mind to slap a freshly rebuilt 460 into my '82 Bronco. I do have a couple of questions though. First, originally having a 351W, I was wondering if I will need to change the motor perches in order to get the 460 to mount, or will the mounts from L&L or Advance Adapters work with the stock perches. Second, I don't want to take an engine just worked enough to properly breath and put manifolds on it. I was looking on Summit's website, and the only headers that I could find were Headmans and they were in the neighborhood of $375. Are there any cheaper headers out there that will work? I would preferably like shorty style headers. I'd appreciate any advice that you could offer.

Thanks alot.

if you're building a 460 go with full length headers. you'll get a lot more torque (i know..overkill...but why not?) and to tell you the truth i dont know if anyone makes any shorty's for it. not much of a market there.

The bellhousing are diferent you'll need another C6, Then the tailshaft-TC adapter might be longer that will screwup the drive shaft lengths and possibly mounting areas. I've heard the adapeter for motor mounts work well without any welding.

goodluck.

the L&L headers are expensive but very heavy duty - 1/2 inch mount flanges
but beware the "lifeitme" warranty is somthing like 3 years then pro rated to 50%
if you have a c 6 you will need a big block trans case
I got one at a junk yard and took the internals out of the sb case and put them in the bb case. I did a minor rebuild at the time.
The L&L mounts should work with your stock perches, I have read that if you can find the bb perches from an f250 you can use stock mounts
You will also need the truck/van oil pan.

I have been looking for a set of headers from Hooker. From what I have read, they have some for this engine swap, but I can only find the ones for 78-79 Bronco's. If anyone has used these headers, where did you find them? Part number by chance? How much did they cost? Thanks again.
