I need the clip that comes from the harness to the back of the cluster if anyone has any ideas please help....iv'e checked all the salvage yards, no luck. I have a 73 f-100 ranger....thank you.
Are you talking about the instrument cluster connector? The little plastic clips broke off the connector and wont stay in the cluster anymore? not quite sure if I am understanding you correctly.
These Cluster connectors may still be availiable from Ford. The E-series vans uses the same type cluster with little changes from 1975 to 1991. And most of the changes was to the printed circuts, not the connectors or gauges.
You would remove one wire at a time from the old connector, to the new one, making sure each wire was put into it's proper place.

A little more info would help, as the parts book shows around 500 different ones. Which clip (connector) exactly do you need?
the clip is a 14 pin clip and it's white...iv'e tried a clip from 77 thru 79 and those clips have too many teeth and there grey....i need the whole plug....i shouldn't say clip bec. the plug has clips on it...lol.
Mil1ion you are the man...yes sir i have broken that 14 pin beyond repair and i would like to replace it with another 14 pin or convert to a 18 pin which ever is easier.....your advice would be much much appreciated.
That same series of instrument cluster was used clear up thru the 80's in vans. You can find many of them in salvage yards. Check the vehicles with missing clusters. A connector may be just sitting there waiting for you.
An 18 pin would require an entire rewire job with a new wiring harness etc, -lots of work.
the cluster is fine...i need the clip for the cluster....iv'e looked in all the salvage yards nearly in the state of idaho...if i don't have this part i can't drive my ford....i don't drive my ford me and the wife might get a divorce....j/k....i need my truck boys, i'm desperate. Thanks for all the help so far.
Ford Part Number: D3AZ-14489-C .. Connector, 14 Pin (to printed circuit board)
Fits
1973/79 Ford Pickups
1975/84 Econoline Vans
1973/79 Ford LTD/Mercury Grand Marquis
Check your local dealer, or y2kfordparts here (sponsor). Prolly won't find one new...so look for one of the vehicles I typed above. The Big Mercs and Fords should be somewhat easy to find.
Pull the cluster, cut off the connector with a portion of the loom.
It's a wire loom CONNECTOR, not a clip.
OP called it a clip.

K...This "wire loom connector" is not listed on the y2kfordpars catalog you listed with the part number you provided, so i would assume if i checked the dealer they're not gonna have it either, i will check the parts yards for the vehicles listed above, but i must say i have checked every model of ford truck and the connector that was used 76-79 was a 16 pin not a 14, this issue with this flippin connector has been wrong with my truck since about 9 months after i got it and iv'e physically checked those years, and can't find years 73-74 so i will check the others and hope for the best, thanks a mill. i appreciate all yer guys's research. thanks.

Reason: not enuf info
but i must say i have checked every model of ford truck and the connector that was used 76-79 was a 16 pin not a 14.
That should read "18 pin not a 14".
This is because the 18 Pin connector is the most common, even in the 1973.
I would say and estimate that about 10 to 1 ratio between the 18 and 14 pin connector. That said about every ten trucks looked at, only one truck out of ten will have the connector you need. Possibly even higher, 15 to 1 etc...
I'm going to the wrecker today, I'll see if I can find one. No promises though.
iv'e physically checked those years, and can't find years 73-74 so i will check the others and hope for the best,
Well even if you do find a 1973 or 1974, the odds are it will still have a 18 pin connector, the one you dont need like all the others you have looked at.
You see it doesn't matter as much what YEAR the truck is but if the truck had Factory ammeter and oil Gauges, or idiot lights for the altenator, and oil pressure. That is the difference.
Ammeter and oil pressure Gauges was a very popular option, even in 1973, 1974. 18 pin connector.
Altenator and oil pressure warning lights, not very common, 14 pin connector.
Look for a truck or van with idiot lights, and that should help you narrow down your search.
