Broken ....read the text again just above my pic in post #4.

14 pin = Idiot Lights Cluster

18 Pin = Gauges cluster

At the wreckers ...Unless the cluster has been removed..it should be just a walk up and glance to see what a truck has.

Wink idiot lights

I do not have any of the "idiot lights" on my cluster the only lights that light up are the "hi beam" and the "brakes" light when i engage the parking brake....that is it...i have an oil gage(manually connected to the motor) D alt C(manually connected to the alternator) C temp H(manually connected to the thermostat housing) and i have my E fuel F (manually connected to the tank) not idiot lights are in this particular cluster. The mph gage goes from 0 to 100 and i have my left and right turn signal....if i new how to take a picture of the thing and post it to a thread to show you what it looks like i think you might have a better idea what im talking about. I have a feelin we're getting closer and closer to a solution, and again i really really appreciate you kind gentlemen for doing all the research you have.

reply to my e-mail with a picture.

Here's what it the gauge cluster looks like

All, as you can see Broken has a Factory Gauge cluster

the back of his cluster shows 17 of the 18 pin contact spots

So from his picture ...he needs the Short 18 pin connector..not the long one as shown on the bottom from later years.

What I can't figure out is why the 74 cluster shown in post #4 is not the same configuration as his shown on post #18.
It is configured like the 75+

Also notice the width of the contacts.

Broken,

what are the numbers shown on the printed circuit and cluster back ?

D3TF-xxxx-x

10848 is the basic number for the plastic housing the printed circuit and actual gauges attach to.

Basic engineering part number for printed circuit: 10C956

18 pin connector: D4ZZ-14489-B (Style # 23 in parts catalog) it's used with printed circuit.

Note: This part number fits Mustang II's 1974/78, and prolly a lot of other stuff besides trucks and vans.

There are NO application charts to define year and model on connectors and sleeves. Ford shows 25 pics of the different styles, then lists all by description.

There is only ONE 18 pin connector listed in the parts book that will work for broken's application.

D4ZZ-14489-B

(the only other 18 pin connectors listed fit M450/500 Motor Homes, or 1975 /E/F100/350's with cruise control)

Econolines in 1973 & 1974 used a different housing than the F100/350's.

see my listings above that show the application charts for 10848 housings.

Econolines in 1971-1972-1973-1974 used the same housings as the 1971/72 F100/350's

(1969 E & 1968/9 F100/350 use the same housings)

(1970 E & F use the same housings)

There is no such thing as a 1968 Econoline...it came out midway in 1968 as a 1969 model, but the part number prefix (C8UZ) reflects 1968..leave it to Ford to confuse the issue
