I've been having problems with my electric windows. It ranges from sticking briefly to just stopping all together. I've changed out the window motors several times and am wondering how i can prevent them from messing up. Is there anything I can do to extend the life of a window motor(and still use it often)?
Spray WD-40 or some lubricant in the runners of the window. This will help it come down and go up easier and put less strain on your motors. This is what I have done and it works well for me.
Citybronco is on the right track, so to speak. The one problem is that WD40 is not a lubricant. Instead get some white lithium grease that you can spray on the window tracks. That should take care of the problem for you.
if it's the glass itself sticking in the track, you might try rubbing some Door Ease (Napa) around the glass. I used that on my rear window and it helped a lot and killed the squeak.
I think the tracks go down into the door quite a ways, and you can adjust them slightly by bumping them farther apart or closer together.
