Hello everyone, I am having problems cold starting my 00' f250 diesel. Like I said, I just got two brand new batteries with around 1000 ccp each. I also got the controller replaced. The GPR and glow plugs were tested and they were fine. The mechanic said the next thing he would check would be the EOT sensor because it is reading 40 degrees colder than what is really is outside. I warmed my truck up for 30 minutes today and then drove 10 minutes to work (6 am). I went out at lunch 12 pm and it was cranking trying to start, but it is too cold... What should I do??

White smoke while cranking? If so, I question the 'fineness' of the GPR. I wouldn't think that a low temp sensing EOT would keep it from starting, maybe work the EBV more that it should.

I could see starting trouble if it was reading 40 degrees WARMER, but not colder than reality. If it's reading colder than ambient all it's going to do is assume that it is VERY cold outside and heat the glow plugs up all that much longer. It shouldn't cause a hard cold start, IMO.
Is it cranking over very sluggishly and that's why you replaced the batteries?
Charge rate good with the new batteries?
I agree on Kwikk on this one. If the EOT was reading a higher temp than actuall it could cause the GP to not activate long enuff, but if it is reading colder it would just run them longer up to the full 2 minutes.
