Hi guys, I have a 1990 Ford Bronco. The headlights seem to look a little on the yellow side! My question is what have you guys done to take the yellow look off the headlights. THANKS ALOT!!!
Replace them. Even halogen lamps will yellow with age. Persoanlly, being in the theatrical lighting business, I have considered putting LEE #202 1/4 CTB booster blue over the headlamps which truthfully does nothing for them except give the appearance that they are "whiter". If it can fool a motion picture camera or a television camere into thinking they light is whiter, it will ALWAYS fool the human eye.
Ah, ok. Not certain then. I replaced and brokent HL assembly through an online retailer for about half the cost of getting one from Ford. Unfortunately, I can't recall which one right this minute. Would have to check my records.
Getting your cloudy headlight covers crystal clear again will take very little time and even less money. Get some 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper and a squirt bottle of water or better yet a garden hose. Wet the lenses down good and keep them wet as you begin sanding the lenses with the paper. You will instantly begin to feel the paper glide over the lenses rather than sticking to it. When you think you are done, rinse well and dry to see where they are still foggy. Do it again! In NO time your lenses will look as good as new!!!!!!!!
Bon Ami will take the yellow off of the headlights. It will also clean off the oxidation from your tail and parking light lenses. If your having trouble with your windshield wipers chattering, use it to polish your glass. I don't know why they only market it as a kitchen cleanser, it works great for automotive uses.

would this also work to remove light scratches left by the previous owner (government moron) that ran the wipers with a bad blade leaving the arc across the right side of the windshield? is there a special purpose product available for this?
I don't think it will, Bon Ami is just a really fine grit polishing agent. If you do buff out scratches, it will leave an annoying distortion in that area. You best bet will probably be replacing the glass.
BonAmi is far too coarse for optical glass like a windshield. Use the "glass polishing kit" from Eastwood, or a similar product.
