I found that both my headlights was out. I went and replaced one of the lamps and found that it still did not work. I started troubleshooting and it led me to the headlight relay. Does anyone know where to find it?
*When I turn Headlight switch on = No Headlights
*When I turn the switch to auto = No Headlights
*When I turn the switch to headlights and hit the function switch to turn on brights = No Brights either
*If I pull back on the function switch to momentary = Brights come on until I release the function switch
I have 13v on Red/Yellow wire when I switch to headlights, but I do not have any voltage at the Headlamp wires.
Is your Excursion originally from Canada or anywhere Daytime Running Lights are standard?
Do you have the automatic headlight system that turns on the headlights when it gets dark without you touching the switch?
If not, then you don't have a headlight relay.
EDIT: Disregard, you have the automatic system. Looking at the diagrams and I'll let you know where to look.
The relay appears to be internal to the Headlight switch or in the vehicle security module. (Depending on which diagram above you look at.)
Check a Red w/ Black stripe wire coming from the multi-function switch (Turn Signals, High Beam, etc.)
Also check for presence of power at the two headlight fuses in the under-hood fuse box.
Daytime running light relay is in auxillary relay box 2 labeled c1171 and c1172. Don't know which one is box 2. My online manual lists numerous pages for troubleshooting-rather mind boggling. You might want to try a dealer if you can't find it easily.
