I am looking to buy a performance enhancer for my 2005 F350 6.0
I am planning on a cat back and an intake in addition.
I used the Edge on my 2004 F350 6.0 and fried the transmission at 13,000 miles. My main goal is better fuel economy and better performance with out damaging my truck.
I'm new to all these chips and tuners to be purchased, but I was curious as to why the Edge product fried the transmission. Is that a problem indigenous to only the Edge product or is it something to be aware of with other tuners like the Superchips Flashpaq and the Diablosport Predator? I want to buy a tuner ( preferably portable) and am reading up on them at each vendors website. I have also talked to some power vendors at some RV shows and nobody seems to agree on which tuner is the best. Is there a "gotcha" nobody is telling me about I should be aware of?
The problem with *many* of those off the shelf devices is that they do not take into consideration the large power gains and what that does to the transmission - there are areas in the transmission's programming and also in the engine tuning that must be changed specifically to keep the automatic transmissions alive - and it's not just Edge, but a lot of the off the shelf products that do not do this properly.
We can help with this, either via our custom tuning (and our shop is where the current SCT diesel tuning files were developed, by the way), or with a "canned" type of tuner that will not damage that vehicle.
Just give us a call at our number listed below & we'll be happy to help.

Are the SCT tuners listed on your site modified with your custom tuning or are they the off-the-shelf device?
SCT at one time was a part of Superchips. Superchips split it, and SCT as a sole company was born out of the split. SCT = Super Chips Custom Tuning. No longer realated in any way to SuperChips.
SCT and Sniper are the premier tuners for Ford gas and diesel....be it custom or "canned"...and the primary reason that they were both Ford only for a long time. Recently both SCT and Sniper have started to attempt to branch into other brands of vehicles, but both hold Ford very high in thier list of priority, and both are able to tune Ford engines better than just about anything out there.
David Lott in "Snow White" uses Sniper....just about every other hot Ford is using some sort of SCT based tune....be it from Steeda or any other custom tuner.
Troyer has specialized himself and developed a reputation for the F-150 trucks in particular...so if I were going to go with custom tunes, I would be seriously looking at Troyer. It seems that most of the SCT tuners have a niche that they are partial to. So it would depend on the specific car/truck/engine for me to decide who I would choose. For your F-150, you cant go wrong with the Troyer tunes.
I've been running a custom tuned Superchip single bank chip from Troyer for over 3 yrs. Its by far the best tune I've tried on my F150. I've tried a Hypertech chip & programmer & a Superchip 1715. The custom tune chip from Mike beats all of the off the shelf tuners in my personal testing & by my timeslips at the track. I just ordered a sct tuner from Troyer last wk to be able to run a lower setting tune that will run 87 octane gas
