95 f-150 upgrade to 96 NEED HELP!!
alright, after looking at the ways to upgrade my truck to mass air from speed density, I figured I'd just buy a computer and a harness out of a 96 model and do an entire swap, since I have an E4OD and that seems to be the big hurdle in this kind of swap.
Well I picked up my harness from the junkyard today, and I am kinda frustrated.
I guess all the lights and everything else are tied in as well. Is there any way to split the hanress so it just controls engine and tranny functions?
Also, I know the plug that goes into the firewall is the same, but are the wires on the inside of the truck wired the same way? Also, I need a OBD2 connector so I can tie into the computer so I can check codes as well as other things.
I need to know the pinout of the connector to the computer so I can splice some of those wires.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

I used to get pinouts over at the modular fords electrical forum.
However, you will also need to weld in another o2 sensor bung. Everything should be in the harness, so I would suggest cutting the loom and peeling out the engine and trans portions. Leaving the rest of the truck alone. Then when you lay in the new harness you can just recover it.

95 to 96 upgrade
I have a 94 5.8L, E4OD and I'm doing the research on a doing an MAF conversion, I believe you're wiring is the same as mine, so if you would be so kind as to let me know how you're swap goes and what parts you used I would greatly appreciate it. Please also let if you had success adapting the OBD2 to the OBD1 system.<O</O

The 94 -95 had Maf in the 302 so the harness will plug and play if you get whole thing. The 96 went to OBDII and has extra sensors ETC to contend with . I have swapped couple . Can do in less than week end if swap whole harness (about everything else same) I did the repin thing twice and the harness swap is way quicker and you can check all connection at same time . With out the is there a wire crossed problems good liuck

My truck has e4od and I live in PA. You will need ecu for your truck specs (motor /trans. 302 is about all you will find outside of CAL .
You will need
harness firewall out
harness from fenderwell to motor ( If you are wiring savy you can run extra wires from
PCM/ECU
PCM to fender plug and Maf . I'm not Its why I do it this way . )
A maf sensor and the air tube from air box.
A maf air box The air sensor was moved fron intake to this box . You could just wire for the intake one but will sense the hotter air .
I get rust bucket for $500-1000 and take what I need and sell rest . I made $800 on last truck and have a bunch for extra parts. Good luck

I thaught the 94-95 302's had the MAF sensor in the air tube right after the air box? So I take it that if I get the complete harness off a MAF 302 (everything under the hood, plus the harnes that runs from the firewall to the ECU inside the cab down by the drivers side kick panal and then talk to some junk yards in Cali for an ECU off a 351 MAF E4OD truck I should be in business? The ECU out of a 302 E4OD will not run my 351? Please let me know and thanks for you're help.

I have a 5.8 ecu, and I did manage to find the diagrams that I needed for the firewall plug. Had to buy quite a few pins and do some re-crimping. All was going well till I went to hook up the tranny. The plugs are completely diffirent. I went back to the junkyard and the dang donor truck has the other automatic, not the e4od.
Now what do I do? I have the harness for the other tranny, can I cut the connectors off of it and install the ones for An e4od, or do I need to do something else?
I am rather upset, but I still cannot find a junkyard with a 96-5.8-e4od. I've looked everywhere.
