My check engine light came on yesterday evening so I went to Autozone and the pulled the code P1301 and they told me the code ment cylinder #1 misfire. Is that code description correct? I need to give it a tuneup since I do not have any history or records for this vehicle.
I have only owned this thing 1 week.
Is cylinder #1 the front cylinder on the drivers or passengers side? as I am doing the tuneup I want to pay perticular attention to the cylinder #1 plug when I remove it. I just went and bought 6 Autolite double platinum plugs, the plug wires appear to be in good shape, and I also putting in some fuel injector cleaner for good measure. Anyone have any other ideas?
before you spend too much $$$ check out this site
towards the middle you will see hyperlinks for your code. these are generic listed but the same codes http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/index.php
It was definately P1301 I saw it with my own eyes but everwhere and everything I have seen references P0301 for the #1 cylinder misfire. The book he got the definition of the code from listed it as a P1301. Maybe it was something specific to his reader???? Dunno??? I replaced all the plugs yesterday evening and the plug on the passenger side front looked like it may never have been changed before, probably because you have to get to it from under/through the front fenderwell. Hope that was the problem! I disconnected the battery to clear the code so only time will tell if that was the problem, sure hope so!
p0301 is p1301 it has a 1 instead of a zero because the scanner used has manufacture specific updates install for a more accurate scan so the link i posted will tell you what to troubleshoot and how tho pinpoint your problem and save some $$$
