There will be codes stored if the light is coming on. It will be well worth your expense to get it scanned. It will point you in the right direction towards getting this problem nailed down.
for sure. this thing is driving me insane. he has a hypertech tuner on it. i didnt know hypertech made tuners for diesels.. that kinda threw me off when the guy he purchased it from told us that.. would a tuner have any kinda problem with it?
i had a chip that would cause a no start sometimes. i just had to pull it and re install it and the problem was fixed but i dont think that this is your problem though. so what have you tried and havent tried yet?
so far just the valve on the filter letting fuel off. i havnt been back out. im going out there in alittle to do what i was told. keep the valve open an just crank an crank. so really iv just tryed letting the fuel off from the valve..

NO, do not keep the drain valve open. Make sure it is closed and the fuel/filter bowl is full.
The troubleshooting will proceed from there. First we have to be sure it is getting fuel or the rest will not matter. We will then check that the HPOP has oil IOT activate the injectors and that they are getting a signal. We may also play with the CPS and GP system but I don't know what temps you are having. If your CPS is dead, it will not fire anyway, but the fuel filter change is relatively cheap and can only help.
alrte im gonna run over there right now an see what i can do. does the hpop have a level mark? or what? if i pop that filter cover off an there is no gas? whats the problem

There is an allen head plug on top of the HPOP reservior. You will see it when you remove the plastic cover over the filter/HPOP. Remove that and check to see if the oil is within 1 inch of the top. If not, fill it to that or within a half inch with fresh clean diesel grade oil.
When you go to replace the filter, drain it before hand anyway. Pay attention to how the filter and orings come out so the new goes in so it goes in right. Fill with diesel as described, then cap, some like to fill with the thing capped and using the pump but in your case with your problem I recommend filling manually.
If you are just pulling the cap to see if fuel is in there, you don't need to do that. Everytime you have been opening the drain valve and seen fuel tells you some is there. I think you have a big air problem.
When one of ours had run out, and had so much air, we had to cycle the pump several times before it would even begin to fire... and even then took quite a while to run on its own, let alone good,
damn really? that sucks.. i hope i can get it running. but if it is a air problem it will come bak. this is the 4th time its done this.. but now it wont fire at all
Well, it may have been getting in there with all of that draining/bleeding. Stop that practice, start with a fresh filter and full bowl and go from there. Keep the tank well above 1/4 full. If the problem persists, we'll move to other sources.
ok i just went down there. it has almost have a tank in it. it got in the truck. cranked cranked cranked cranked. wouldnt fire. so i was like.. hmm lemme try this. so i give it full throttle. it fired up on the 3rd crank. i let it run for 10 mins, shut it off. crank crank crank crank crank. wouldnt fire. so i give it full throttle again. it fires right up! what the hell is the deal?
Might just be the idle validation switch. Did you warm it up real good? run the air out of it? Get it good and warm and see if it does the same thing when you try the restart.
