I have the 05 style lights, the 9008 I believe, but they aren't as bright as the stock bulbs were. The brite box, which I also have, only helps when the brights are on, The brite box keeps the low beams, fog lights and high beams all on when you hit the brights. Just like if you pull the signal lever and hold it. I think I'm gonna upgrade to Garrett's wiring upgrade and lose the brite box. I believe that the new style bulbs need more power. You do also have to change the wiring harness that plugs into the headlight. About $60.00 each from Ford.

thanks for the info...so to get brighter lights you need 2 kits???one that makes more power then another to make the new style bulb fit our buckets??

When I did the front end change over, I got a parts list from King Kustoms in CA so I bought the harnesses from Ford. But I think the setup Garrett has at puredieselpower.com does the whole thing. I believe they call it the 9008 headlight upgrade kit.

was thinking of getting the wiring harness from Garrett for the silverstar 9007 ones with the little dodad that makes the low beams stay when using the high beams on just wanted to know if anyone hear has done that and if it was worth doing it
thanks

If any of you are good at electrical fabrication, then I recommend that you build your own dedicated wiring harness to feed the lights using relays that are powered directly from the alternator post with the ground wire for the lights returning directly to the alternator. Use the headlight wiring to activate the relays which in turn power the lights. Use 10 guage wire. Solder every connection. That way there will be ZERO voltage drop from the 14.5 volt alternator to the lights.
You will think that plain old 55/60 watt halogens are 80/100's !!! I kid you not. I've done it to one of my cars that I had for a while and then sold to a kid who couldn't believe that I only had 55 watt low beams.
I ran with 55/100's so I could be legal around town, but once I was out in rural areas I could light up the sky.
A drawback to this design is that the lights will not last as long as usual, but hey you will have the brightest lights in town.

Never done anything like that before. But willing to try.
So I would have two wires going and coming from my alternator? Would I use the plugs that are there now? would i want to put any fuses in?

I have the harness from Pure Diesel Power with the low/high beam option, with 9007 silverstar ultras I have some really bright headlights now. Install is a breeze it took me about 20 mins good directions.
