If guage reads empty...
Is the sender defective or is the float full of gas? Floats are made from two pieces of copper soldered together. The solder breaks down, gas seeps in..float sinks to bottom of tank.
The float, gas tank sender gasket, and the plastic screen (filter) are available from Ford.
