At 10 mpg and $2.20/gallon... you're looking at $4400 a year in fuel bills. I only run my '97 F250HD about 3500 miles a year and I'm usually using the 460/4.10/4wd combo when I am... either plowing, pulling, hauling, whatever... so I don't mind my fuel ineconomy.
If you could get 12 mpg, you'd only spend $3666 a year... a savings of $734/year.
That seems like alot of money to me. The Banks kits are expensive... I'd like one for the HP, but maybe you should look into one for the MPG. Seems like it would pay for itself in a year or so.
MPH really does impact MPG in these trucks. I drove mine 1500 miles in 28 hours once... got 11 mpg in Kansas at 80+ mph and 14 mpg in Missouri at 65 mph.
Wow... great looking doggies! The one on the left must be a malamutes, because my Siberian is about the size of his (?) tail!
What kind of mileage do you get with the dogs pulling the truck?

This is my own little 8 acres of paradise...granted i liked the weather better on Hawaii, Guam and Saipan -- except for their swampy humid July and August.
Not bad here for a hell hole, just us dawgs

What's cookin' in Union?

L-R: Molly, a sweetheart long-haired Malamute 90Lbs. Sy, a black Lab-weiler mix. And Blondie a husky-shepherd-coyote something mix. He's good-natured but pure dumb. They're from the local dog pound.
All three pulling the Ford I get about 2 miles per pound -- of Purina

Back to phre2b 460 mpg? Did these posts answer your question? We'd all love to talk more about our rigs

Like, i can't decide on what Chip if any to get. Can't deal with buying premium gas though, unless the gas mileage improves with it.
speed dose dictate mpg my 71 just putin around dirt roads with a cooler full of cold one runin around 30-45 mph gets some where around 15 mpg the blacktop road runin 70 to get home before the wife,it drops to around 10 mpg.what realy gets me heavy duty trucks wont get good mpg cuzz there not built to,they are built to work and do it well with whatever it takes and it takes fuel and big inch motors do do the job intended. i have 2 big trucks with cats under the hood the one's thats jacked up get 4 mpg and the one that isnt get 6.5 but dosnt pull no where as good as the other
