Lightbulb Steering box rebuild (kit)

I need to rebuild my steering gear box, seems to be the demon of my play. Have any of you guys done it and were can I find a rebuild kit? It is a '66 manual box. I do this kinda work at work but on a larger scale so I feel I should be able to work my way thru it. Any suggestions..........

There are three different gearboxes. One is for a 4X4, there are two for a 4X2,

See if you can find a number or tag on the box that reads: HCD-B; SMA-E or H.

If it's a 4X4, I don't need a gearbox number.

Frank, Might be a great time to convert to power steering.

Hello guys. Yeah I thought about upgrading and may do it, but will I be able to keep my stock column or have to cut it down? I'm sure I can find the swap info thru a search and I will do that as well.

But I may rebuild my stocker because I'm also ok with the strong arm steering.
My tag reads....

Hope you have the info ND.

I’m looking at doing the same either way. I just bough my truck as a work truck/project, and (among other things) the front end is whipped. I have near a quarter turn worth of play in the steering assembly. So I figured while I’m rebuilding it, adding power steering might be good idea, especially since I do a lot of driving in city traffic and paralyzed parking. Please let me know what you find, and I’ll try to do the same.

There are two boxes. The two numbers I listed above are the only refs the parts book gives. However, only one part is different between the two..the steering worm and roller.

1-C5TZ-3524-B Shaft and rack (worm and roller) use with gearbox # HCD-B
......................................OR.......... ........................................
1-C5TZ-3524-G Shaft and rack use with gearbox # SMA-E or H
2-C2AZ-3552-A Race, Bearing upper & lower
2-C2AZ-3571-A Bearing Worm upper & lower
1-C5TZ-3575-D Shaft, Sector
2-C1AZ-3576-B Bearing, Sector Shaft (cased needle brgs)
1-C3AZ-3581-A Gasket, Sector shaft Cover
1-C7OZ-3591-A Seal, Sector Shaft
1-351701-S Plug, Sector Housing
1-B8AZ-3A657-A Shim Kit
