STEERING BOX

ISO of rebuilt steering box for 1955 F350, a rebuild kit, or someone who can rebuild mine. Mine leaks like a sieve. One thing I didn't rebuild.

Pic: Upper/lower steering shaft & worm bearings (3571) and races (3552/3553), sector shaft bearings (3576), sector shaft seal (3591) and gasket (3581), steering shaft seal (3738) are all available NOS

These are basic part numbers only. If interested, I'll type the complete part numbers and their sources.

Thanks, NumberDummy! I'll do a little more searching to see if I can locate these animals.

The thing is, you need the complete part numbers. Pics in part catalogs only show the basic part numbers (noted in post #2).

I did enter just the basic number, e.g., 3571 for bearings and I received a link to Mac's. But I just got off of chat and I need to find out if the box is a bendix or (well I lost the chat). Anyway, I'm going out now to see if I can find a name on the box. Since I'm looking for a 55 F350 I'm thinking the parts are going to be a lot beefer then for an F250 or F100.

Is that what they told you to do? If so, don't bother...because the clucks don't have a clue.
There's only one steering gearbox for 1953/55 F350/500/600...so the parts are the same.

1) TCAA-3524-A .. Steering Shaft & Worm / Obsolete

1) BB-3552 .. Upper Steering Shaft & Worm Bearing Cup -stamped 13C / Obsolete

1) 81T-3553 .. Lower Steering Shaft & Worm Bearing Cup - stamped 14C / Obsolete

2) 81T-3571-A .. Steering Shaft & Worm Bearing - stamped 11BC / Obsolete

1) B6T-3575-B .. Sector Shaft (also 1956 F350/500/600) / Obsolete

2) 81T-3576-A .. Sector Shaft Bushing (same 1953/56 F100/600) / Obsolete

1) 7RT-3581-A .. Sector Shaft Gasket / Obsolete

1) B6A-3591-A .. Sector Shaft Seal (same as 1953/56 F100/250) / Obsolete

1) 7RT-3738 .. Steering Shaft & Worm Felt Seal / Obsolete

Now, if you wish, I can search for these parts (probably tomorrow morning PST).

Good info. I don't think I'm too excited about the "Obsolete." Well, I have a GEMMER Steering Box. The name was on the top-side towards the firewall. On the bottom of the box there was a number 40007 and above that number was a 1. But I can't find any reference to the 40007. Tons of info on GEMMER. I'm on my way back out to see if I can find any other numbers.

I would be forever in your debt if you could search parts for me

Well, I found more numbers on the Box, they are Z81

When ever you see an illustration page, like NumberDummy posted, you will see Model letters C=F100 D=F250 and Y=F350. I would suggest you buy the CD. It has been really helpful for me.

Pic = scroll down to: TCAA-3504-A .. Steering Gearbox / Obsolete

1953/55 Y (F350); T (F500); TH: (F600).

Parts catalog doesn't mention the manufacturer. If Mac's told you that was required before you could get the parts, they're full of it!

Long abandoned Gemmer factory located north of the Edsel Ford Freeway in Detroit.

Just south of the freeway from Gemmer on East Grand Blvd. is the former Packard Motor Car Co. plant, the LARGEST industrial ruin in the world!

That's because you simply saw the numbers wrong and ID'd them wrong. The number you actually saw was 4CC07.

Try searching 4CC07 Gemmer, that's what I just installed into my truck a few weeks ago.

If you have one for '56, PM me with a price, I may buy it for future use. But I don't really need it. Sorry for the thread hi-jack.
