I just got back from 6.4 training----------interesting! Lotta heat in the tailpipes, due to regeneration mode of the diesel oxidation catalyst- diesel particulate filter- and catalytic converter. It will set a rubber exhaust hose (like you find in the garages) on fire! Now, if you want to remove all of this--it is all tied in together with boost, egr, fuel timing. Ford realized there was some problems with the 6.0, so they were at times turning a blind eye toward some warranty claims, they do not anticipate any of those issues with the 6.4. THERE WILL BE ZERO TOLERANCE TOWARD MODIFICATIONS IN REGARD TO WARRANTY CLAIMS! Choose your mod choices wisely! Now, before you start shooting at me, I'm just relaying what the guy with FORD all over his shirt told me!
For you folks that think about bio-diesel, The catalysts dont like it. Use of more than 5% bio causes extra regeneration cycles in the doc,and the dpf, making extreme heat (1200 degrees). How do you feel about dash fires? Warranty wont pay for catalysts that were contaminated with un-approved fuels. How do you feel about $5000 out of your pocket? Again, when you change from the norm, it will make a big mess.
Ya Know the "searching" that the 6.0 turbo would do, and the stuck vanes? The 6.4, when you turn the key on, cycles the vanes via an electronic actuator, keeping everything freed up.
It would be nice if they could make the 6.0 VGT cycle the vanes like that. Instead I romp on it a time or two each time I drive it to do my own "cycle".

By the way, thanks for sharing the info.
So is it the people who baby these 6.0's who have the problems then? Cause I'm always right into it and mines been solid for 2 years, except the alt went awhile back

I think it's great. Just think of all the threads I will get to lock...or make disapear.... when people start complaining and looking for legal advice when Ford starts voiding warranties due to mods.
All the hype about the hp and torque was just that----"We just wanted to mess with dodges mind". It will be roughly the same as the 6.0---the curve will be a little different. The F250 we had there wasnt approved for on road use, so we couldnt drive it. Quite literally, you pull the cab almost anything you do to it!
They've improved several areas. The cab mounting bolts now come bottom up (before you had to remove carpet, and rear seats to get to the bolts) The shroud, and radiators (yes, radiators, 6 coolers up there) are easily removed. Everything else is pretty much unplug, and snap lock fittings.
So basically, removing the cab will be a smooth, clean process...that might save some time in the shop, and for the clients that need the truck back as quickly as possible.
