How else can you get all that stuff crammed in the engine compartment. Although I can't remove the cab myself, as long as the thing is under Warranty, let Ford and Navistar worry about it. It isn't this guy's fault that is what the engineers designed. If anything, it is a better design since the bolts now go from the bottom up. It won't be long before there are shops that can remove the cab aside from Dealerships.
My dad's tractor had to have the front half taken from the rear, then the rear split in two to do any work on the rear end. I don't think a cab removal is so far out of line.
FORD BLOWS ANOTHER ONE WHEN WILL THEY GET RID OF INTERNATIONAL, i AM SURPRISED YOU DON'T HAVE TO REMOVE THE CAB TO CHECK THE OIL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey man cool off. I'm not real impressed either(not impressed at all, actually), but don't unload on vloney for that. He didn't design or build the thing.......he's just passing the news. He's one of the good guys here, ok? He's just giving us the bad news.........
You've given us pretty much the bad news. Whats the good news? What do you like about this new beast? I'm kind of interested to hear, because, well, outside, to me it looks like somebody turned the headlights upside down and then beat it with a JC Whitney catalog....And you just told us this thing is going to be an absolute PIG to work on if we try to wrench on it ourselves......What are the good points we got going here?

What I've seen, every problem that the 6.0 had, has been addressed. I really think this one wont be as much of a nightmare.
INTERESTING...........I'll be watching to see how this pans out. I'm curious to see what kind of teething problems this engine might acutally have (it's a new design, and every new thing has to get the bugs worked out of it). Natural course of things......I just got my 06 last Feb, so I'm not in the market, but I'll probably be when this powerplant matures.......
One thing I got to know, however. Those CHEESY looking vents on the fenders? Are those functional, or are they just bling?

From the pictures I've seen it appears the passenger side one lines up with the air filter intake.

Gunner: I was in no way unloading on vloney it was aimed at ford in general just can not beleive where they dream up some of these designs I have friends that had the 6.0 PSD all but 1 is now driving a dodge and I have a 04 gas pot that takes an act of christ to change the plugs because if they get a little carbon the hole in the head is so small they wojn't come out and you pull the plug in half leaving half in the head can you just draw a mental pic of that and ford says it is not a design flaw and will not cover it!! End of rant!!
This engine is much more technical than most of us have been used to in the past. In reality, the heads and the block are 6.0, but thats where the similarity ends. All the manufacturers are going to this setup. They are mounting things differently though. The only things that concern me at this point is the extreme heat whenever it goes into regeneration mode, and when you lift the hood, the grille sticks down low (I'm short and I hit my head several times). The radiator is very vulnerable with the hood raised. You want to get on the bumper to look into the engine compartment, and your shoes will contact the radiator.

So from what you're decribing to me, it sounds like the grill stays attached to the hood, like a dodge, instead of staying bolted to the truck, like on my 06, for instance?
