Some of the special tools are curious---there is block off adapters to shut off the oil and allow you to start the truck without the turbo installed---the curious part is, to remove the turbo, pull the cab. So, pull the cab, remove turbo, install blockoffs, reinstall cab to start truck for testing, then remove cab again?

I saw this tool when going through the online training in STARS2. Looks like it would fit the 6.0 too (at least from a purely visible perspective) and it would be nice if it does.
The turbo can be removed by removing the oil and fuel filter housing, intake throttle assemby and vertical EGR cooler from what I have seen/heard thus far, but I'm sure it would be much quicker just to remove the cab.
Its alot of work that should be a bit simpler now that they have better access to the bolts and stuff, without having to rip out seats and carpet and stuff.

The problem with removing the turbo, is there is two oil lines under it, they are very easy to damage if you dont bring it up carefully. The lifting bracket supplied with the special tools helps to balance it when in the pulling process. It does seem to be accessible, but you cant jerk on it very hard or the tube damage can occur. There is an o-ring that holds pretty tight under the low pressure turbo half. Bowtie--- for a while, ALL of the 6.4 repairs are M time until they get somewhat a picture of how much time everything takes!
The 6.4 is beginning to sound more and more like a vehicle I want nothing to do with. It already looks like they threw a JC Whitney catalog at it. Glad I got my 6.0
You do have to be careful with the egr pipes and the up pipes. There is an order in which they are to be installed, and a torque sequence. With the edoc (egr diesel oxidation catalyst) in one of them, expense if you screw up is to be considered.
And if I recall, any clamp or bolt removed from the exhaust system can not be reused and needs to be replaced... oh, did you guys down in the US get ProTech PowerStroke jackets?

You can only reuse 2. The bolts that secure the edoc to the engine.
Did the training show how much boost those two turbo's are going to produce? I've heard it will be like 42 pounds. That will be cool.
I have an 05 that I am leasing. I don't get to get a new one till next year in April, but I've read everything I can find on them. I expected them out last year at this time. I will get to see one this weekend at the auto show in Omaha.
