Question Radiator- 2 or 3 row?

I'm in need of a new radiator for my '92 e-350/5.8 ltr. club wagon. The old radiator is a three row core and most parts stores stock only a two row radiator. Should I go to a two row? I don't intend to do anymore long tows with this van. Do any of you other van owners have a two row and do you have any overheating issues? Thanks, John

Have you checked NAPA? They don't stock much of anything in a radiator, but they can usually have it in one to two days. It cost me less at napa for the radiator for my 'LTD than Advance or AZ. Napa will list all kinds of them.

Go with three row, especially if you have A/C. I just went with the cheapest radiator at Advance Auto ($180 suppose to be HD) and even in winter my guage is above what it was with the 21 year old OEM radiator that leaked. They both looked the same, I did not count rows, I suppose I will do that now.

The good news is it does have a sensor port, so I will probably add a gauge now and I no longer dumping a gallon of ant-freeze at $8 a gallon.

Exclamation

Two row is the standard Ford radiator. Three row is "Extra Cooling"

Stick with the three row.

fwiw, i went with a 4-core radiator when i had to replace the leaking stock one on my '82 E350. i figured 4 was better than 3 since i expected to do some heavy hauling/towing, but can't say i really know the difference... :-)

Anyone know where a 3 or 4 row can be bought. My parts stores only show one part number. How about the diesel engine radiator, will it fit?

I long ago gave up buying off-the-shelf replacements. Radiator specialty shops have provided equal or better parts every time and it never cost me any more money than what the chain stores want for some unknown/imported part of questionable quality.

Same for custom hoses (including A/C!)

BTW, to find the best shops I always ask at other shops. I asked the radiator shop owner who he would take his own car to for transmission work. I asked the transmission shop owner where he would go for brake work. Permanent population here only 150,000, not counting the colleges, so everybody who grew up here seems to know everybody else who did, too. Love it!
