My Dad called and he has a question on his 88 f250. on the drivers side of the injector pump there is a part that bolts on and has two vacuum lines going to it.
what is this part called
what does it do?
I looked in my book and you can see pics of it in the haynes manual but no discription.
thanks for the help.
if it opperates off of the throttle lever it is a vacuum regulator valve and controls the shift points for the trans (c-6); unless some one put a standard in and left the controll or else installed an injection pump off of an automatic truck
yes it is an auto and my dad thought it did something for the shifting just did not know what to call it when he went to the parts store. the guys at the part stores sometimes give old guys a trouble.

Thanks for all you help.
I'd be pretty surprised if he can get one at a parts store. More than likely a dealer-only item....
Did he break it? If he doesn't like how it's shifting, it's adjustable.
I don't know if he broke it but he said the barbs are broke off and he has it bypassed right now. he does not drive the truck much anymore but he likes to keep it kept up. I will call the ford house just to see what the one here says.
