Question Step Rails / Nerf Bars with lights ?

As nice as the big bench side-steps are on my King Ranch, I think I want to replace them with some step rails / nerf bars.

However, I'd like to retain some type of courtesy lighting like the existing bench steps have.

Does anyone know of step rails with some type of integrated lighting?

Another thought is like on my '05 Expy, there are courtesy lights under the rear-view mirrors that shine down (and actually light up a larger area than the lights on my F250 bench step), but not sure what aftermarket options there are.

Thanks!
TX

Me too...I am considering installing nerf steps either from Go Rhino or NU Fab. I am putting in led strip lights on the rocker panel botton where the steps attaches to and tie it to the door light switch wiring. There are several lengths and colors of led strip lights. You can find some at parts store. In your case, I am sure its just an matter of connecting these wiring that was for the OEM step lights to the led light strips.

I have never heard of any nerf bar type steps with lights. However, have looked into these lights from recon yet? I bet there would probably be a way to wire them so they come on with your dome lights too.

I have been thinking about them myself but I would like to see some up close pics of them first to see how much they stick out in the daylight. I just went through the hassle of changing out my cab lights and mirror lights to smoked lenses to get rid of the amber color, I wouldn't want to add a big amber strip to my truck now. I'm hoping they are a smoked strip with amber lenses like there line of fire bar.

I think both you guys are right on the money with some type of LED light strip. Once the stock bench step is off, I'll find a good mounting location near the bottom of the side panels. I'd like them to cast some light on the new nerf bars and the ground. I think the mounting will be the biggest decision. As far as wiring, that's done with the power from the stock bench steps.

I might get creative and flush mount some type of LED housing(s) along that bottom edge.

tnx!

I think you'll find that the LEDs will indeed be sufficient. I have six on each of my running boards, and I can drive along a dark road, and look out my window onto the ground alongside the truck, and it is lit up in amber. The running boards are lit up as well, a'course. So not only do the serve as markers but also as step/courtesy lights, to some extent.

I've got some pics in my sig if you want to see what I mean.
