Sometimes when I get in to drive the gas pedal seems stuck ill have to tap it kind of fast to get it unstuck but once its free its ok, this can be dangerous any had this problem before? (97 exp)
I had this happen to one of my Mustangs a while back. The carpet was catching the gas pedal and causing it to stick. Some scary stuff to happen at full throttle!
I am having the same probblem with the gas pedel in my '99 EB Expy. Once you get going, it loosens up, but you gotta mash it to get the stickyness out. Any ideas?
It's the same on my 2001 Expy 5.4L. I used to just push down on it but it would cause the truck to surge forward when it released. Now I tap it and then its fine. It only happens when the truck is cold and is perfect after releasing.
I've been meaning to spray some WD 40 on the cable but haven’t had a chance or maybe its some thing with the throttle body.
this happened to me. I got some 3M throtle body cleaner and a clean shop rag. when you spray the solution in try to coat the out side walls more than spraying down the throat of the throtle wipe as much of the build up out as you can. After you assemble everything let the vehicle sit a while so the vapors from the cleaner can disapate. If you start the truck right away the idel will be rough then sparatic idel then finally back to normal. The sticky pedal went away. The fix has lasted 2 years now.
Good luck.

It is definitely in Throttle Body, if you disconnect Throttle and Cruise Control cables and work the Throttle cable with someone pressing on peddle and it moves freely. The butterfly sticks in the Throttle Body. Cleaning with carb cleaner will help, but it will still be a little tight due to the fact when Ford designed this, the cable is actually past center at idle so it does give a little resistance. But it shouldn't "stick".
My throttle was hanging as well...I decided to clean today...only took about 10 minutes. Take off the throttle body cover (3 bolts), loosen the screw the intake hose clamp and move the intake hose a little to the right...then used a rag sprayed with throttle body cleaner (Autozone, ~ $4) to clean around seat, valve, and throttle body throat. Mine was caked up and nasty...good as new now!
